AJ’s Bar & Grill is located only a few hundred feet from Big Muskego Lake. Established in 2008 AJ’s is a sports bar that features 9 HD flatscreens including a 110in projection TV. In addition to being a great place to watch the big game and have a burger, wings or pizza AJ’s also features live entertainment. AJ’s has karaoke the 1^st and 3^rd Friday every month and live music on select Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Originally opened as Chuck’s Supper Club in 1947, the restaurant has seen many changes over the years.  Two fires, the first one in 1957, the second in 1967, destroyed the building the restaurant occupied. The current building was finished in 1968 and was one of the first

commercial buildings in Wisconsin to be built with poured concrete forms shipped directly from Germany. The Chuck family operated the restaurant into the 1990’s when it then became the Silver Lake Inn, and very shortly in 1999-2000 as Steakhouse 100. The building then sat empty for 10 years until April of 2010 when we completely renovated the space and added a large wraparound (soon to be legendary) deck overlooking the shores of beautiful Silver Lake.

The dining room evokes a timeless design with rich dark cherry wood and centered on an enormous natural stone fireplace. There is also a banquet room that seats 200 with a hardwood dance floor and stage where live music is played every weekend. The bar is a classic design and perfect for enjoying happy hour, before and after dinner drinks, sporting events, and live music events.

American Cuisine fused with Modern techniques and ingredients.  Craft Cocktails and an excellent Beer Selection  

Happy Hour in the bar M-F 3-6 and again on Tue-Th from 8-11pm.  Monday: All-You-Can-Eat Shrimp all day and $1 Miller Lite taps after 9pm.

The Story of Taylor & Dunn’s

In 1836, twelve years before The Wisconsin Territory was granted statehood, a carpenter named Taylor Heavilon came to Milwaukee from Chicago. Prior to his arrival in the new Wisconsin Territory, he was credited for building the first Catholic Church in Chicago. Within a short time, he acquired about 640 acres in what is now Section 35 of Ozaukee County, upon which he lived. Being among the early settlers here, his nearest neighbors lived four miles away. In November of 1838, Taylor Heavilon exercised his preemptive right to purchase his claim from the Federal Government, at a special Wisconsin Territory land sale, at a price of about fifty cents an acre.

A few years later, Andrew Dunn—an Irish immigrant and eventual Wisconsin legislator—purchased property in the same section of Ozaukee County where he helped the new settlement of Mequon flourish. His travels took him through Portage County, Wisconsin where he was elected chairman of the county commissioners, but he eventually settled in the town of New Lisbon in Juneau County where he was dubbed “The Godfather of New Lisbon”. Andrew Dunn was responsible for early road and land surveys and was elected to the Wisconsin State Legislature in the mid-1850’s.

According to Ozaukee County’s Register of Deeds Office, Taylor Heavilon and Andrew Dunn were two of the first landowners of what is now the area of Donges Bay and Cedarburg roads.

Taylor & Dunn’s was originally built as a rooming house. The building has seen many changes since its construction nearly 100 years ago. In addition to other dining establishments, it was most recently Mille’s Spaghetti Factory.
